Salmo. De Asaf.* Ó Deus, os pagãos invadiram a tua herança, profanaram o teu santo templo e reduziram Jerusalém a um montão de ruínas.

Deram os cadáveres dos teus servos em alimento às aves do céu e os corpos dos teus fiéis, às feras selvagens.
3
Derramaram o seu sangue como água, em torno de Jerusalém, e ninguém lhes deu sepultura.
4
Tornámo-nos motivo de escárnio para os vizinhos, de irrisão e opróbrio para os que nos rodeiam.

Até quando, Senhor, estarás ainda irritado? Será a tua indignação como um fogo abrasador?

Descarrega a tua ira sobre os pagãos, que não te conhecem nem invocam o teu nome.
7
Porque eles devoraram o povo de Jacob e destruíram a sua morada.
8
Não recordes contra nós as faltas dos nossos antepassados; venha depressa ao nosso encontro a tua misericórdia, porque chegámos ao fim das nossas forças.
9
Socorre-nos, ó Deus, nosso salvador, para glória do teu nome; livra-nos e perdoa-nos pelo amor do teu nome.
10
Porque hão-de perguntar os pagãos: «Onde está o seu Deus?» Mostra a essa gente, diante dos nossos olhos, a vingança do sangue derramado dos teus servos.
11
Chegue junto de ti o gemido dos cativos e, pela grande força do teu braço, salva da morte os que estão condenados.
12
Retribui aos nossos vizinhos sete vezes mais as ofensas com que eles te ultrajaram, Senhor.
13
Nós, que somos o teu povo e ovelhas do teu rebanho, glorificar-te-emos para sempre; de geração em geração cantaremos os teus louvores.
