Senhor, como tem sido o nosso refúgio em todas as gerações!

Antes das montanhas terem nascido; antes da terra e do mundo existirem; desde sempre e para sempre, o Senhor é Deus.

O Senhor pode reduzir o ser humano ao pó, dizendo apenas: “Voltem a ser pó!”

Para o Senhor, mil anos são como um dia que já passou, como as horas da noite que passam depressa.

O Senhor semeia os seres humanos ano após ano; eles são como a erva

que brota e cresce pela manhã, mas seca e morre de tarde.
7
Somos consumidos pela sua ira, o seu furor nos enche de terror.
8
O Senhor conhece todas as nossas maldades. Ninguém pode esconder os seus pecados à luz da sua presença.
9
Passamos a vida debaixo da sua ira; depressa como um sopro, os nossos anos chegam ao fim.
10
Vivemos uns setenta anos, talvez oitenta para os mais fortes. Vivemos sempre trabalhando, sofrendo e, de repente, a nossa vida termina e nós desaparecemos.

Ninguém conhece o poder da sua ira, nem sentiu o temor e o respeito que o seu furor deveria causar.

Ensine-nos que a vida é curta, para vivermos com sabedoria.

SENHOR, volte de novo para o nosso lado. Trate os seus servos bem.

Encha-nos todas as manhãs com o seu amor fiel e cantaremos de alegria toda a nossa vida.

Dê-nos tantos anos de alegria, como nos deu de sofrimento.
16
Deixe que os seus servos vejam as maravilhas que faz, e permita que os filhos deles vejam a sua glória.

Que o Senhor, nosso Deus, seja bom para nós, que nos dê sucesso em tudo o que fizermos. Sim, que nos dê sucesso em tudo!
