Devant Ephraïm, Benjamin et Manassé déploie ta force Et viens à notre secours !

O Dieu ! rétablis-nous; Fais luire ta face, et que nous soyons sauvés !

Eternel, Dieu des armées ! Jusques à quand sera-ce la fumée de ta colère Qui répondra à la prière de ton peuple?

Tu les nourris d'un pain de larmes, Tu les abreuves de larmes à pleine mesure.

Tu fais de nous le but des attaques de nos voisins, Et nos ennemis se rient de nous entre eux.

Dieu des armées, relève-nous ! Fais luire ta face, et que nous soyons sauvés !
8
Tu avais enlevé d'Egypte une vigne; Tu avais chassé des nations, et tu l'avais plantée,
9
Tu avais fait place nette devant elle, Elle avait jeté ses racines et rempli la terre;
10
Les montagnes se couvraient de son ombre, Et ses sarments [étaient comme] des cèdres de Dieu.

Elle étendait ses pampres jusqu'à la mer Et ses rejetons jusqu'au fleuve.
12
Pourquoi as-tu rompu ses clôtures, De sorte que tous les passants la dépouillent,
13
Que le sanglier de la forêt la ravage, Et que les bêtes des champs s'en repaissent?
14
Dieu des armées, reviens ! Regarde des cieux, et vois ! Et visite cette vigne !
15
Protège ce que ta droite a planté Et le fils que tu as fortifié pour toi !
16
Elle est la proie du feu, elle est coupée, Ils périssent devant le courroux de ta face.
17
Que ta main soit sur l'homme de ta droite, Sur le fils de l'homme que tu t'es choisi !
18
Et nous ne nous détournerons point de toi; Fais-nous revivre, et nous invoquerons ton nom !
19
Eternel, Dieu des armées, rétablis-nous ! Fais luire ta face, et que nous soyons sauvés !
