Chant des montées. Seigneur, souviens-toi de David, de toutes ses afflictions!

Il fit ce serment au Seigneur, ce vœu à l'Indomptable de Jacob:

Je n'entrerai pas dans la tente où j'habite, je ne monterai pas sur le lit où je couche,
4
je ne donnerai ni sommeil à mes yeux, ni assoupissement à mes paupières,
5
jusqu'à ce que j'aie trouvé un lieu pour le Seigneur, une demeure pour l'Indomptable de Jacob.
6
Nous en avons entendu parler à Ephrata, nous l'avons trouvé au pays de Yaar…
7
Allons à sa demeure, prosternons-nous devant son marchepied!
8
Lève-toi, Seigneur, viens à ton lieu de repos, toi et le coffre de ta puissance!
9
Que tes prêtres soient revêtus de justice, et que tes fidèles poussent des cris de joie!
10
A cause de David, ton serviteur, ne repousse pas l'homme qui a reçu ton onction!
11
Le Seigneur a fait à David un serment de loyauté, sur lequel il ne reviendra pas: C'est un de tes descendants que je mettrai sur ton trône.
12
Si tes fils gardent mon alliance et mon témoignage, ce que je leur apprends, leurs fils aussi seront pour toujours assis sur ton trône.

– Car le Seigneur a choisi Sion, il a désiré en faire son habitation:
14
C'est mon lieu de repos à jamais; j'y habiterai, car je l'ai désirée;
15
je bénirai ses ressources, je rassasierai de pain ses pauvres;
16
je revêtirai ses prêtres de salut, et ses fidèles pousseront des cris de joie.
17
Là je ferai pousser une corne pour David, je disposerai une lampe pour l'homme qui a reçu mon onction,
18
je revêtirai ses ennemis de honte, et sur lui brillera son diadème.
