De David. Béni soit le Seigneur, mon Rocher, qui enseigne à mes mains le combat, à mes doigts la guerre,

mon bienfaiteur, ma forteresse, ma citadelle, mon libérateur, mon bouclier, en qui je trouve un abri, qui me soumet mon peuple!

Seigneur, qu'est-ce que l'être humain, pour que tu le distingues? Qu'est-ce que l'homme, pour que tu tiennes compte de lui?

L'homme est semblable à une vapeur, ses jours sont comme l'ombre qui passe.
5
Seigneur, incline ton ciel et descends! Touche les montagnes, et qu'elles fument!

Fais éclater les éclairs et disperse-les! Lance tes flèches et frappe-les de panique!
7
Etends tes mains d'en haut, délivre-moi, sauve-moi des grandes eaux, de la main des étrangers
8
dont la bouche parle faussement, et dont la main droite est pleine de mensonge.

O Dieu, je chanterai un chant nouveau pour toi, je jouerai pour toi du luth à dix cordes.

Il donne le salut aux rois, il délivre de l'épée cruelle David, son serviteur.

Délivre-moi, sauve-moi de la main des étrangers, dont la bouche parle faussement, et dont la main droite est pleine de mensonge.

Nos fils sont comme des plants qui grandissent dans leur jeunesse; nos filles sont comme des figures d'angle sculptées dans la construction d'un palais.

Nos granges sont pleines, regorgeant de toutes sortes de produits; notre petit bétail se multiplie par milliers, par dizaines de milliers dans nos campagnes;
14
nos vaches sont grosses; pas d'accident, pas d'avortement, pas de cris sur nos places!
15
Heureux le peuple pour lequel il en est ainsi! Heureux le peuple dont le Seigneur est le Dieu!
