Prête l'oreille, berger d'Israël, toi qui conduis Joseph comme un troupeau! Toi qui es assis sur les keroubim, parais dans ta splendeur!

Devant Ephraïm, Benjamin et Manassé, éveille ta force, mets-toi en marche pour notre salut!

O Dieu, ramène-nous! Fais briller ta face, que nous soyons sauvés!

Seigneur Dieu des Armées, jusqu'à quand t'irriteras-tu contre la prière de ton peuple?

Tu les nourris d'un pain de larmes, tu leur fais boire des larmes à pleine mesure.

Tu fais de nous un objet de discorde pour nos voisins, et nos ennemis se moquent de nous.

Dieu des Armées, ramène-nous! Fais briller ta face, que nous soyons sauvés!

Tu avais arraché de l'Egypte une vigne; tu as chassé des nations et tu l'as plantée.

Tu as fait place nette devant elle: elle a enfoncé ses racines et rempli le pays;
11
les montagnes étaient couvertes de son ombre, et sa ramure était comme des cèdres de Dieu;
12
elle étendait ses rameaux jusqu'à la mer, et ses rejetons jusqu'au Fleuve.

Pourquoi as-tu ouvert des brèches dans ses clôtures, de sorte que tous les passants la grappillent?

Le sanglier de la forêt y fouille, et ce qui se meut dans les champs en fait sa pâture.

Dieu des Armées, reviens, s'il te plaît! Regarde du ciel et vois! Interviens en faveur de cette vigne!

Protège ce que ta main droite a planté, et le fils que tu as toi-même rendu fort!

Elle est incendiée, elle est coupée! Ils disparaissent, rabroués par toi.

Que ta main soit sur l'homme qui est à ta droite, sur l'être humain que tu as toi-même rendu fort!

Nous ne nous déroberons plus à toi. Fais-nous revivre, et nous invoquerons ton nom.
