De David. Béni (soit) l'Éternel, mon rocher, Qui exerce mes mains au combat, Mes doigts à la bataille,

Mon bienfaiteur et ma forteresse, Ma haute retraite et mon libérateur, Mon bouclier, auprès de qui je me réfugie, Qui me soumet mon peuple!

Éternel, qu'est-ce que l'homme, pour que tu le connaisses? Le fils de l'homme, pour que tu penses à lui?

L'homme est semblable à un souffle, Ses jours sont comme l'ombre qui passe.

Éternel, incline tes cieux et descends! Touche les montagnes, et qu'elles fument!

Fais éclater les éclairs et disperse mes ennemis! Lance tes flèches et disloque leurs troupes!

Étends tes mains d'en haut; Délivre-moi; arrache-moi aux grandes eaux, À la main des ressortissants étrangers

Dont la bouche prononce des paroles vaines, Et dont la droite est une droite (pleine) de fausseté.

Ô Dieu! je te chanterai un cantique nouveau, Je psalmodierai en ton (honneur) sur le luth à dix cordes.

Il donne le salut aux rois, Il délivre de l'épée cruelle David, son serviteur.

Délivre-moi et arrache-moi À la main des ressortissants étrangers, Dont la bouche prononce des paroles vaines, Et dont la droite est une droite (pleine) de fausseté.

Nos fils sont comme des plants Qui grandissent dans leur jeunesse; Nos filles comme des figures d'angle Sculptées dans la construction d'un palais.

Nos greniers sont pleins, Regorgeant de toute espèce de produits; Notre petit bétail se multiplie par milliers, Par dix milliers dans nos campagnes;

Nos bœufs sont chargés, Point de brèche, point de captivité, Point de cris sur nos places!
15
Heureux le peuple pour lequel il en est ainsi! Heureux le peuple dont l'Éternel est le Dieu!
