Dieu des vengeances, Éternel! Dieu des vengeances, parais dans ta splendeur!

Lève-toi, juge de la terre! Pour rendre aux orgueilleux selon leurs œuvres!

Jusques à quand les méchants, ô Éternel! Jusques à quand les méchants exulteront-ils?
4
Ils discourent, ils parlent avec raideur; Tous ceux qui commettent l'injustice se consultent.

Éternel! ils écrasent ton peuple, Ils humilient ton héritage;

Ils tuent la veuve et l'étranger, Ils assassinent les orphelins
7
Et ils disent: L'Éternel ne voit pas, Le Dieu de Jacob ne fait pas attention!

Faites attention, stupides gens! Insensés, quand aurez-vous du bon sens?
9
Celui qui a planté l'oreille n'entendrait-il pas? Celui qui a formé l'œil ne regarderait-il pas?
10
Celui qui corrige les nations ne réprimanderait-il pas, Lui qui enseigne la connaissance aux humains?
11
L'Éternel connaît les pensées des humains! Elles sont vaines!
12
Heureux l'homme que tu corriges, ô Éternel! Que tu instruis par ta loi,
13
Pour lui donner la tranquillité aux jours du malheur, Jusqu'à ce que le gouffre soit creusé pour le méchant!
14
Car l'Éternel ne délaisse pas son peuple, Il n'abandonne pas son héritage;
15
Car le jugement reviendra à la justice, Et tous ceux dont le cœur est droit se rallieront à lui.
16
Qui se dressera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui se tiendra pour moi contre ceux qui commettent l'injustice?
17
Si l'Éternel n'était pas mon secours, Mon âme serait bien vite dans la demeure du silence.
18
Quand je dis: Mon pied chancelle! Ta bienveillance, Éternel, me sert d'appui.
19
Quand une foule de préoccupations (s'agite) au-dedans de moi, Tes consolations remplissent mon âme de délices.
20
Ont-ils partie liée avec toi, les magistrats de malheur Qui façonnent l'oppression à l'aide du code?
21
Ils s'attroupent contre la vie du juste Et condamnent le sang innocent.
22
Mais l'Éternel est ma forteresse, Mon Dieu est le rocher de mon refuge.
23
Il fera retomber sur eux leur faute, Il les réduira au silence par leur méchanceté; L'Éternel, notre Dieu, les réduira au silence.
