Hvorfor skal folkeslagene si: «Hvor er nå deres Gud?»

Vår Gud er i himmelen, alt han vil, det gjør han.

Folkenes gudebilder er av sølv og gull, et verk av menneskehender.

De har munn, men kan ikke tale, de har øyne, men kan ikke se.

De har ører, men kan ikke høre, de har nese, men kan ikke lukte.
7
De kan ikke gripe med sine hender og kan ikke gå med sine føtter; de har ikke mål i strupen.

Slik blir også de som lager dem, og alle som setter sin lit til dem.

Israel, sett din lit til Herren! Han er deres hjelp og skjold.

Arons ætt, sett din lit til Herren! Han er deres hjelp og skjold.

Dere som frykter Herren, stol på ham! Han er deres hjelp og skjold.

Herren kommer oss i hu og velsigner oss. Han velsigner Israels ætt, han velsigner Arons ætt.

Han velsigner dem som frykter ham, både små og store!

Måtte Herren la dere øke i tall, både dere og deres barn!

Velsignet være dere av Herren, han som skapte himmel og jord!
16
Himmelen er Herrens himmel, men jorden gav han til menneskene.

De døde priser ikke Herren, det gjør ingen av dem som stiger ned i stillheten.
18
Men vi skal love Herren fra nå og til evig tid. Halleluja!
