Gud, hold deg ikke i ro, vær ikke taus og stille, Gud!

For se, dine fiender er i opprør, de som hater deg, løfter hodet.

De legger lumske planer mot ditt folk, de rådslår sammen mot dem du verner:

«Kom, la oss utslette dem som folk, så ingen lenger minnes Israels navn!»

De holder råd og blir enige, så slutter de et forbund mot deg:

de som bor i Edoms og Ismaels telt, moabittene og hagrittene,

Gebal, Ammon og Amalek, filisterne og de som bor i Tyrus;
9
selv Assur slutter seg til dem og låner sin arm til Lots sønner.

Gjør med dem som med Midjan, med Sisera og Jabin ved Kisjon-bekken!

De ble utryddet ved En-Dor og ble til gjødsel på marken.

La det gå deres stormenn som Oreb og Se'eb, og alle deres fyrster som Sebah og Salmunna!

For de sier: «Vi vil ta Guds boliger i eie.»

Min Gud, la dem bli lik en virvlende tistel, lik halmstrå som fyker for vinden!

Som ilden brenner opp en skog, og flammene setter fjell i brann,

slik må du jage dem med ditt uvær og skremme dem med din storm.

La skamrødmen dekke deres ansikt, Herre, slik at de spør etter ditt navn.

La dem skjemmes og skremmes for alltid, la dem vanæres og gå til grunne!

Måtte de skjønne at du alene, du som har navnet Herren, er Den Høyeste over hele jorden.
