(Řediteli hudby; na Jónath-élem-rechókím. Od Dávida, michtám, když se ho v Gathu zmocnili Pelištím.) Buď mi milostiv, Bože, neboť po mně chňape smrtelník, sužuje mě, bojuje po celý den;

po celý den chňapou moji nepřátelé, ano, mnozí vůči mně bojují zvysoka.
3
V den, kdy se musím bát, mám já důvěru k tobě;
4
v Bohu budu velebit jeho slovo, v Boha důvěřuji, nebudu se bát, co mi může učinit maso?
5
Po celý den překrucují má slova, všechny jejich úmysly jsou proti mně k zlému;
6
srocují se, skrývají se, oni sledují mé stopy, jako by vyčkávali mé žití.
7
Bude pro ně za nepravost únik? Svrhni národnosti ve svém hněvu, Bože!
8
Ty máš spočítáno mé vyhnanství; ukládej mé slzy v svůj měch. Zda ne jsou v tvé knize?
9
Tehdy se moji nepřátelé budou obracet zpět, v den, kdy budu volat; toto vím, neboť Bůh je pro mne.
10
V Bohu budu velebit slovo, v Hospodinu budu velebit slovo,
11
v Boha důvěřuji, nebudu se bát, co mi může učinit člověk?
12
Na mně jsou tvé sliby; tobě, Bože, se chci odplatit díky,
13
neboť jsi vyprostil mou duši ze smrti - zda ne mé nohy od úrazu k chození před Boží tváří ve světle života?
