Pregària d’un afligit que se sent defallir i aboca el seu plany davant el Senyor.
2
Senyor, escolta la meva pregària, que arribi fins a tu el meu clam.
3
No m’amaguis la mirada en dies de perill; sempre que t’invoco, escolta atentament, no triguis a respondre’m.
4
Els meus dies s’esvaeixen com el fum, es consumeixen els meus ossos com les brases,
5
s’asseca el meu cor, segat com l’herba, no tinc esma de menjar el meu pa;
6
a força de plànyer-me, em queda solament la pell i l’os.
7
Visc com els mussols en el desert i les xibeques a les ruïnes,
8
passo la nit en vetlla com les òlibes al terrat.
9
Els enemics m’escarneixen tot el dia, en to de burla juren pel meu nom.
10
Menjo cendra com si fos pa, barrejo amb les llàgrimes la beguda,
11
quan veig la fúria i l’enuig amb què m’has alçat i rebatut.
12
Els meus dies declinen com l’ombra del capvespre i em vaig assecant com l’herba.
13
Però tu, Senyor, regnes per sempre i es perpetua de segle en segle el teu record.
14
T’aixecaràs i t’apiadaràs de Sió, perquè ja és temps de compadir-te’n, ja n’és l’hora!
15
Els teus servents estimen les seves pedres, els fa llàstima la seva pols.
16
Els estrangers veneraran el nom del Senyor, tots els reis de la terra, la seva majestat,
17
quan el Senyor restaurarà Sió i s’hi manifestarà amb la seva glòria,
18
quan farà cas de l’oració dels desvalguts i no menystindrà les seves pregàries.
19
Que quedi escrit això per a les generacions que vindran, i el poble creat de nou lloarà el Senyor dient:
20
«El Senyor mira des de les altures del cel, des del seu lloc sagrat esguarda la terra,
21
per escoltar el plany dels captius, per alliberar els condemnats a la mort,
22
perquè anunciïn a Sió el nom del Senyor, a Jerusalem, la seva lloança,
23
quan s’hi apleguin pobles i reialmes i tots alhora serveixin el Senyor.»
24
Ell esgotava a mig camí les meves forces, volia escurçar la meva vida.
25
Però jo he dit: «Déu meu, no em prenguis a la meitat dels meus dies, que els teus anys s’allarguen de segle en segle.
26
Al principi vas assentar la terra, i el cel és obra de les teves mans;
27
ells passaran, però tu perduraràs. Com un vestit es gastaran, i tu els canviaràs com la roba que ha envellit: realment envelliran!
28
Però tu ets sempre el mateix i els teus anys no tindran fi.»
29
Els fills dels teus servents viuran segurs, els seus descendents es mantindran a la teva presència.
