Enaltiu el Senyor, proclameu el seu nom, feu conèixer entre els pobles les seves gestes.
2
Canteu-li al so de les cítares, feu l’elogi de les seves meravelles.
3
Glorieu-vos del seu nom, que és sant, alegreu-vos de cor, els qui cerqueu el Senyor.
4
Cerqueu el Senyor, acolliu-vos al seu poder, busqueu sempre la seva mirada.
5
Recordeu les meravelles que ell obrà, els seus prodigis i les seves decisions,
6
vosaltres, nissaga d’Abraham, el seu servent, fills de Jacob, els seus elegits.
7
Ell, el Senyor, és el nostre Déu; fa complir les seves decisions per tota la terra.
8
Recorda per sempre l’aliança, la promesa feta per a mil generacions,
9
l’aliança pactada amb Abraham, el jurament fet a Isaac
10
i confirmat a Jacob com un decret, a Israel en aliança perpètua:
11
«Et donaré el país de Canaan i serà la vostra possessió.»
12
Llavors encara es podien comptar, eren pocs i forasters en el país,
13
anaven de poble en poble, de reialme en reialme.
14
Però ell no permeté que ningú els maltractés i reprengué uns reis per causa seva:
15
«No toqueu els meus ungits, no feu cap mal als meus profetes.»
16
Després cridà la fam al país, els privà del pa que els mantenia.
17
Havia enviat un home davant d’ells, Josep, venut com un esclau;
18
li fermaren els peus amb un cep i el coll amb una argolla,
19
fins que es complí la seva predicció i la paraula del Senyor l’acredità.
20
El rei va enviar qui el deslligués, el sobirà dels pobles decidí deixar-lo lliure;
21
i el nomenà senyor del seu palau i administrador de tots els seus béns,
22
perquè instruís els nobles segons el seu voler i ensenyés la saviesa als ancians.
23
Llavors Israel va entrar a Egipte, Jacob fou immigrant a la terra de Cam.
24
El Senyor va fer el seu poble molt fecund, més nombrós que els seus enemics.
25
Però canvià el cor dels egipcis perquè avorrissin el seu poble i tractessin amb perfídia els seus servents.
26
Envià Moisès, el seu servent, i Aaron, el seu elegit,
27
que van obrar prodigis enmig d’ells, grans meravelles a la terra de Cam.
28
Envià tenebres i es va fer fosc, però ells es resistiren a les seves paraules.
29
Canvià les aigües en sang i va fer morir els peixos.
30
Infestà de granotes el país, fins i tot les cambres reials.
31
Donà una ordre i vingueren eixams de tàvecs, núvols de mosquits per tot el territori.
32
En comptes de pluja els envià pedregades, foc i flames per tot el país;
33
matà els ceps i les figueres, destrossà els arbres d’aquelles regions.
34
Després ordenà que vingués la llagosta, un nombre incalculable d’insectes,
35
que es menjaren tot el verd del país i devoraren les collites dels camps.
36
Va colpir a Egipte tots els primogènits, la flor de la seva fillada.
37
Va fer sortir el seu poble, carregat d’or i plata, i ningú d’ells no ensopegava pel camí.
38
Tot Egipte s’alegrà que se n’anessin, perquè el terror s’havia emparat d’aquell país.
39
Estenia un núvol que els fes ombra i un foc durant la nit perquè els fes llum.
40
Demanaren menjar i els envià guatlles i els va saciar amb el pa del cel.
41
Obrí la roca i en brollà un doll d’aigua: un riu va córrer pel desert.
42
Perquè recordava la promesa santa, feta a Abraham, el seu servent;
43
per això tragué el seu poble d’elegits, entre cants de festa i crits d’entusiasme.
44
Els va donar les terres d’altres pobles, van heretar el fruit del treball de les nacions;
45
però havien d’observar els seus preceptes i guardar les seves lleis. Al·leluia!
