En salme av David. Herre, hør mine inderlige bønner! Svar meg i Din trofasthet, i Din rettferdighet! Ikke døm meg, Din tjener, for det finnes ikke én levende som lever helt rett for Deg. Fienden forfølger meg, jeg er langt nede. Han har latt meg bo i mørket, som om jeg var død.

Derfor kjenner jeg meg kraftløs. Mitt hjerte i meg er lamslått. Jeg husker hvordan det var før. Jeg tenker på alt det fantastiske Du har gjort, Dine mektige gjerninger. Da rakte jeg mine hender ut mot Deg. Min sjel lengter etter Deg som uttørket jord lengter etter vann.

Å, Herre, skynd Deg å svare meg før min ånd forgår! Ikke skjul Deg for meg, så jeg dør. La meg få høre om Din godhet om morgenen, for jeg stoler helt på Deg. Lær meg hvordan jeg skal takle livet, jeg overgir alt til Deg. Å, Herre, fri meg fra mine fiender! Jeg søker dekning hos Deg.

Lær meg å gjøre Din vilje, for Du er min Gud. Din Ånd er god, led meg da på rett vei! Å, Herre, for Ditt navns skyld, bevar mitt liv! Før meg ut av vanskelighetene i Din rettferdighet! Du som er full av godhet, stans alle mine fiender, ødelegg alle som plager meg. For jeg er Din tjener.
