Dette er en klagesang av David over de fiendene som anklager ham for noe han er uskyldig i.

Herre, min Gud, jeg søker trygghet og beskyttelse hos Deg. Redd meg fra alle dem som forfølger meg. Hjelp meg så ikke noen river min sjel i stykker, som en løve river i stykker sitt bytte.

Herre, min Gud! Har jeg vært urettferdig? Har jeg vært ond mot dem som har vært gode mot meg, eller har jeg plyndret en fiende uten grunn? I så fall kan du la fienden komme og ta meg. Da kan han trampe på meg og sverte mitt rykte!

Reis Deg i ditt sinne, Herre! Våkn opp og hjelp meg mot mine fienders raseri! Grip inn på mine vegne og vis Din rettferdighet. Da vil folket gi seg over til Deg. Du som skal dømme alle folkeslag – døm også meg! Du vet jeg er uskyldig.

Jeg ber Deg, Gud: La ondskapen til dem som lever uten Deg, ta slutt. Støtt dem som vil leve for Deg! For Du er en rettferdig Gud som kjenner menneskets innerste tanker. Gud vil forsvare meg, for Han frelser den som har et oppriktig hjerte.

Gud er en rettferdig dommer, som hver dag raser over ondskapen til dem som ikke vil leve for Ham. Hvis de ikke slutter med ondskapen og vender seg til Gud, vil Herren forberede deres straff, og den er dødelig.

De som er onde, lar onde tanker vokse fram i deres sinn. Det resulterer i falskhet og ulykke. De fellene de lager for andre, faller de selv i. Slik kommer den ondskap de planla for andre, over dem selv.

Jeg vil prise Herren for Hans rettferdighet! Jeg vil lovsynge Herrens navn! Han har et navn som er over alle andre navn.
