Denne salmen ble skrevet til innvielsen av Davids hus. Jeg vil opphøye Deg, Herre, for Du har løftet meg opp. Du har ikke latt mine fiender glede seg over meg. Herre, min Gud, jeg ropte til Deg, og da helbredet Du meg. Ja, Du førte min sjel opp fra dødsriket, og Du ga meg nytt liv da jeg var i graven.

Syng lovsanger til Herren, dere som er Hans hellige. Når dere minnes Hans hellighet, skal dere prise Ham! For et øyeblikk varer Hans sinne, men Hans nåde varer hele livet ut. Om kvelden presser tårene på, men om morgenen fyllessinnet med jubelrop.

Da jeg hadde det godt i min velstand, sa jeg: «Aldri i evighet skal jeg gi slipp på mitt livs fundament.» Herre, Du har vært så nådig mot meg. Du har satt mine føtter på fjellgrunn. Men så trakk Du deg unna så jeg ikke lenger kunne se Deg. Da ble jeg forferdet. Jeg ropte til Deg, Herre, og ba inderlig:

«Hva godt kan jeg gjøre dersom jeg dør nå? Vil støvet kunne prise Deg? Kan jeg forkynne Din sannhet i dødsriket? Hør, Herre, og vær meg nådig! Herre, vær Du min hjelper!» Du har gjort store forandringer hos meg. Min klagesang er blitt til jubeldans. Du tok mine sørgeklær av meg og kledde meg i glede. Derfor vil jeg ikke være stille – jeg skal lovsynge Deg! Herre, min Gud, jeg vil prise Deg til evig tid.
