Hør på oss, Du som er hyrde for Israels folk og leder Josef som en saueflokk! Du som er Herre over de store æresenglene – kjerubene. La Din styrke stråle fram og bli synlig for Efraim, Benjamin og Manasse. Kom og frels oss! Forny oss igjen, Gud! La Ditt ansikt lyse på oss, så vi blir frelst.

Herre, Hærskarenes Gud, hvor lenge vil Du la Ditt sinne blusse opp når Ditt folk ber? Du har latt dem spise tårer istedenfor brød, og tårer har de fått drikke, Du lar naboene våre slåss om oss, lik hunder som slåss om et kjøttbein. Våre fiender håner oss.

Forny oss igjen, Gud! La Ditt ansikt lyse på oss, så vi blir frelst! Du rykket vårt folk opp med roten, der i Egypt. Du har drevet folkeslagene vekk og plantet oss i det nye landet. Du ryddet plass til Ditt folk og lot det få dype røtter. Folket ble som et mektig vintre som dekket fjellene. Gud lot grenene bre seg ut til havet på den ene siden og til eleven på den andre siden.

Hvorfor har Du så revet ned gjerdene rundt vintreet Ditt? Nå kan alle som går forbi det på veien, plukke frukt av det. Andre folk angriper som villsvin fra skogen. De river opp planter, og dyrene på marken beiter der vintreet står.

Kom tilbake, vi ber Deg, Hærskarenes Gud! Vend blikket ned fra Himmelen, se til denne vinstokken som du plantet med Din høyre hånd, denne sønnen du har utsett for Deg selv og gjort mektig. Den er kuttet ned og brent, den forgår under Din vrede. Hold Din hånd over mannen ved Din høyre hånd, over menneskesønnen som du har utvalgt.

Da skal vi ikke vende oss bort fra Deg. Gi oss livet igjen! Da skal vi be til Deg i Ditt navn. Forny oss igjen, Gud! La Ditt ansikt lyse på oss, så vi blir frelst.
