Dette er en klagesalme av David som ble brukt i tempelet med fløytespill.

Åpne Dine ører for mine ord, Herre, og legg merke til mitt sukk! Lytt til mitt nødrop, Du som er min Konge og min Gud. For det er Deg jeg vil be til, og ingen andre. Herre, om morgenen hører Du min stemme. Jeg vil stille meg foran Deg og se opp mot Deg. For Du liker ikke at mennesker snur Deg ryggen. Ingen ondskap eller urett kan være i Ditt nærvær.

De som ikke vil ydmyke seg for Deg, vil ikke tåle Din dom over sitt liv. Du hater alle som gjør onde ting og lever på tvers av Din vilje. For Du, Herre, avskyr dem som lyver og dreper, og dem skal Du føre i fortapelsen.

Men jeg vil komme til Deg. På grunn av Din store barmhjertighet vil jeg gå inn i Ditt hus, og med stor respekt vil jeg tilbe Deg. Led meg, Herre, Du som er rettferdig! La mine fiender se at Du viser meg hvor jeg skal gå! For det finnes ikke ærlighet i deres munn, for det er mørkt i deres indre. Ut av deres munn kommer det både hykleri og råttenskap. Døm dem skyldige. Gud, la dem falle i sine egne feller! Driv dem vekk, for de har gjort så mye galt i sitt opprør mot Deg!

Men alle som søker trygghet hos Deg, skal glede seg. Alltid skal de juble av glede, for Du passer på dem. De som elsker Deg og Ditt navn, skal glede seg i Deg. For Du, Herre, vil velsigne dem. Som et beskyttende skjold vil Du holde rundt dem med Din nåde.
