Toe Doëg, die Edomiet, gegaan en vir Saul berig gebring het. Hy het vir hom gesê: “Dawid het by die huis van Agimeleg aangekom.”

Waarom spog jy oor 'n bose daad, krygsheld? God se troue liefde is die hele dag daar.

Jou tong beplan vernietiging, soos 'n skerp skeermes, jy wat bedrog pleeg.

Jy hou meer van die slegte as van die goeie, van leuens meer as om te sê wat reg is.

Jy hou van allerhande lasterlike woorde, van 'n tong wat bedrieg.

God sal jou daarom vir goed afbreek Hy sal jou wegruk, jou wegskeur uit die tent; Hy sal jou uitpluk uit die land van die lewendes.

Regverdiges sal dit sien en ontsag hê, oor hom sal hulle die spot dryf:

“Kyk die sterk man! Hy het God nie sy toevlug gemaak nie, maar op sy groot rykdom vertrou. Hy soek toevlug in wat hom vernietig.”

Maar ek is soos 'n welige olyfboom in God se huis; ek stel my vertroue in God se troue liefde, vir altyd en altyd.

Ek sal U vir altyd prys omdat U opgetree het. In die teenwoordigheid van u getroue volgelinge vestig ek my hoop op u Naam, want dit is goed.
