Red my van my vyande, my God; hou my buite die bereik van hulle wat teen my opstaan.
3
Red my van hulle wat onreg pleeg en verlos my van mense wat bloed vergiet;

want kyk, hulle lê my voor, sterkes val my aan. Nie omdat ek oortree of gesondig het nie, Here –
5
sonder dat ek sondeskuld het, hardloop hulle en neem teen my stelling in. Word wakker, sodat U my te hulp kan kom; sien dit tog raak!
6
U, Here God, Heerser oor alle magte, God van Israel, staan tog op om al die nasies tot verantwoording te roep; moenie genadig wees teenoor al die bose verraaiers nie.
7
Hulle keer terug teen die aand; hulle gaan tekere soos honde en sluip in die stad rond.
8
Kyk, uit hulle monde skuim woorde, daar is swaarde op hulle lippe: “Wie hoor dit?”
9
Maar U, Here, U lag vir hulle; U dryf die spot met al die nasies.
10
My Sterkte, aan U wil ek vashou. Ja, God is my toevlugsoord.
11
Die God aan wie ek toegewy is, sal my tegemoetkom; God sal my laat neersien op my vyande.
12
Moet hulle nie doodslaan nie, sodat my volk nie vergeet nie. Laat hulle rondswerf deur u krag, en bring hulle dan tot 'n val, my Heer, ons Skild.
13
Hulle sondig met hulle monde, met die woorde op hulle lippe. Laat hulle verstrik raak in hulle hoogmoed oor die vervloeking en die leuens wat hulle vertel.
14
Delg uit in woede, delg uit, sodat hulle nie bestaan nie. Dan sal mense tot by die uithoeke van die aarde weet: God heers in Jakob.
15
Hulle keer terug teen die aand, hulle gaan tekere soos honde en sluip in die stad rond.
16
Hulle dwaal rond op soek na kos; as hulle nie genoeg kry nie, grom hulle.
17
Maar ek, ek sing van u krag. In die môre jubel ek oor u troue liefde, want U was vir my 'n toevlugsoord, 'n skuilplek op die dag van my nood.
18
My Sterkte, ek wil U besing. Ja, God is my toevlugsoord, die God aan wie ek toegewy is.
