'n Psalm. Van Asaf. O God, nasies het in u eiendom ingegaan, hulle het u •heilige •tempel verontreinig; hulle het Jerusalem tot puinhope gemaak.

Hulle het die lyke van u diensknegte vir die voëls van die hemel as kos gegee, die vleis van u getroue volgelinge vir die wilde diere van die aarde.
3
Hulle het hulle bloed soos water uitgestort om Jerusalem, en daar was niemand wat hulle begrawe het nie.
4
Ons het die bespotting van ons bure geword, die hoon en spot van hulle rondom ons.
5
Hoe lank nog, Here? Gaan U vir ewig toornig bly; sal u heilige jaloesie soos 'n vuur bly brand?
6
Stort u gramskap uit oor die nasies wat U nie ken nie, oor die koninkryke wat u Naam nie aanroep nie;
7
want hulle het Jakob verteer, sy weiding verwoes.
8
Moet tog nie ons vroeëre sondeskuld teen ons hou nie; laat u ontferming ons gou bereik, want ons het baie min geword.
9
Help ons, o God wat ons verlos, ter wille van die eer van u Naam. Red ons en bedek ons sondes, ter wille van u Naam.
10
Waarom moet die nasies sê: “Waar is julle God?” Laat dit voor ons oë onder die nasies bekend word: die wraak oor die bloed van u diensknegte wat vergiet is.
11
Laat die gesug van gevangenes U bereik; laat hulle, gedoem tot die dood, deur u groot mag gespaar bly.
12
Vergeld ons bure sewevoudig waar dit hulle erg raak vir die bespotting waarmee hulle U bespot het, my Heer!
13
Ons is u volk en die skape van u weiding; ons sal U vir altyd prys. Van geslag tot geslag sal ons vertel van die lof wat U toekom.
