Van Salomo. O God, gee u beslissings aan die koning, u geregtigheid aan die seun van die koning.
2
Mag hy u volk met geregtigheid oordeel, u magteloses met billikheid.
3
Mag die berge vrede bring vir die volk, en die heuwels geregtigheid.
4
Hy sal die magteloses van die volk se regte handhaaf, die kinders van behoeftiges verlos, maar onderdrukkers verpletter.
5
Hulle sal vir U ontsag hê solank die son en die maan nog daar is, vir geslagte lank.
6
Mag die koning wees soos reën wat neerdaal op 'n gesnyde grasveld, soos reënbuie wat die aarde deurweek.
7
In sy tyd sal regverdiges floreer, daar sal vrede in oorvloed wees tot die maan nie meer daar is nie.
8
Mag hy heers van see tot see, van die Rivier tot aan die uithoeke van die aarde.
9
Voor hom sal die woestynbewoners kniel, en sy vyande sal stof lek.
10
Die konings van Tarsis en die eilande sal belasting betaal; die konings van Skeba en Seba sal skatplig lewer.
11
Al die konings sal diep voor hom buig, al die nasies sal hom dien;
12
want hy sal behoeftiges wat om hulp roep, uitred, ook magteloses en mense wat nie helpers het nie.
13
Hy sal deernis hê met hulpeloses en behoeftiges; die lewens van behoeftiges sal hy bevry.
14
Van onderdrukking en geweld sal hy hulle lewe vrykoop. Hulle bloed sal kosbaar wees in sy oë.
15
Mag hy lank lewe! Mense sal vir hom van die goud van Skeba gee; hulle sal voortdurend vir hom bid en hom die hele dag deur seën toewens.
16
Mag die land oortrek wees met graan, die are golwend oor die bergtoppe soos die Libanon. Mense in die stede sal in bloei staan soos die plante van die land.
17
Mag sy roem vir altyd duur, sy naam voortleef solank die son bestaan. Mense sal wens dat hulle so geseënd is soos hy; al die nasies sal hom gelukkig noem.
18
Die Here God, die God van Israel, moet geprys word, Hy wat wonders doen, net Hy alleen.
19
Sy luisterryke Naam moet vir ewig geprys word; mag sy heerlikheid die hele aarde vul. •Amen, amen.
20
Die gebede van Dawid, seun van Isai, eindig hier.
