'n Lied. 'n Psalm. Van die Koragiete. Vir die •musiekleier. Op Magalat. Om te sing. 'n Maskiel. Van Heman, die Esragiet.

Here, God wat my verlos, bedags roep ek om hulp, snags bly my hulpgeroep voor U.
3
Laat my gebed U bereik, draai u oor na my klaagroep;
4
want ek het genoeg gehad van rampe. My lewe is by die •doderyk;
5
ek word gereken by dié wat afdaal in die put. Ek het geword soos 'n sterk man sonder krag,
6
vrygelaat onder die dooies, soos gesneuweldes wat in 'n graf lê, aan wie U nie meer dink nie; hulle wat afgesny is van u hand.
7
U het my in die diepste put geplaas, in donker plekke, in die dieptes.
8
U woede rus swaar op my; met al u golwe onderdruk U my.
9
U het my bekendes van my verwyder, U het my iets afstootliks gemaak vir hulle. Ek is opgesluit en kan nie uitkom nie;
10
my oë verdof van ellende. Ek roep na U, Here, elke dag, ek strek my handpalms na U uit.
11
Kan U aan dooies 'n wonder doen? Of skimme, kan hulle opstaan, kan hulle U prys?
12
Word daar in die graf gepraat oor u troue liefde, oor u betroubaarheid in die onderwêreld?
13
Is u wonders bekend in die duisternis, en u geregtigheid in die land van vergetelheid?
14
En ek, na U roep ek om hulp, Here, elke oggend kom my gebed voor U.
15
Waarom, Here, verstoot U my, verberg U u gesig vir my?
16
Ek is magteloos, in doodsgevaar van my jeug af; verslae dra ek u verskrikkinge.
17
Oor my het die gloed van u toorn gebreek, u verskrikkinge vernietig my.
18
Die hele dag omring dit my soos water, dit omsluit my heeltemal.
19
U het geliefdes en vriende van my verwyder; my vertroueling is die duisternis.
