Nuair a thugann lucht mallaithe fogha fúm d' fhonn mo chlú a mhilleadh, is iad m' eascairde a thiteann ar lár; baintear tuisle as mo naimhde.

Má bhíonn arm in eagar catha i mo choinne ní bheidh eagla ar mo chroí. Fiú amháin má bhítear ag cur cogaidh orm beidh dóchas agam ann.

Iarraim aon ní amháin ar an Tiarna; bím ag tnúth leis de shíor: go gcónóidh mé in áras an Tiarna gach lá de mo shaol; go bhfaighidh mé taitneamh in aoibhneas an Tiarna ' s go bhfeicfidh mé a theampall.
5
Óir cuirfidh sé i bhfolach ina bhoth mé in am na buartha; folóidh sé faoi dhídean a phailliúin mé, ardóidh ar charraig mé.
6
Ardófar mo cheann ar ball thar mo naimhde i mo thimpeall, go n-ofrálfaidh mé ina bhothsan istigh íobairt an áthais. Canfaidh mé agus ceolfaidh mé don Tiarna.
7
Éist, a Thiarna, le mo ghlór nuair a ghlaoim ort, freagair, agus fóir orm.
8
Dúirt mo chroí i do thaobhsa: «Bí ag lorg a ghnúise.» Bím ag lorg do ghnúise, a Thiarna,
9
ná folaigh d' aghaidh orm. Ná cuir do ghiolla uait i bhfeirg; is tú mo chúnamh. Ná teilg uait mé is ná tréig mé: a Dhia mo shlánaithe!
10
Má thréigeann fiú m' athair is mo mháthair mé, glacfaidh an Tiarna liom.
11
Tabhair eolas do shlí dom, a Thiarna, cuir sa bhóthar réidh mé, d' ainneoin mo naimhde;
12
agus ná tabhair suas mé a Dhia, do thoil m' eascairde. D' éirigh finnéithe falsa i m' éadan, agus lucht an fhoréigin.
13
Creidim go bhfeicfidh mé maitheas an Tiarna i dtír na mbeo.
14
Fan leis an Tiarna go meanmnach; bíodh misneach i do chroí. Cuir do dhóchas sa Tiarna.
