3 Go dtaga mo ghuí ag triall ort; claon do chluas chun mo ghlóir.

4 Óir tá m' anam lánualaithe le buarthaí; tá mo bheatha ag druidim leis an uaigh.

5 Áirítear mé ar an drong a ghabhann sa pholl; agus ráinig mé mar neach gan neart;

6 mar dhuine ina aonar i measc na marbh, amhail an t-ár ina luí san uaigh, atá imithe as do chuimhne go brách, agus atá scartha le do chúram caomhnaitheach.

7 Chuir tú go domhain san uachais mé, in íochtar an duibheagáin dhorcha.

8 Luíonn do dhíbheirg go trom orm; tá mé báite faoi do thonnta go léir.

9 Chuir tú mo chairde i bhfad uaim; thug tú orthu déistin a ghlacadh liom. Táim faoi ghlas is ní féidir liom éalú;

10 tá mo shúile ag meirtniú le téann buartha. Bím ag éamh ort gach aon lá, a Thiarna; is chugat a shínim mo lámha.

11 An ndéanfaidh tú éachtaí do na mairbh? an éireoidh na neamhbheo do do mholadh?

12 An bhfógrófar do ghrá san uaigh, nó do dhílseacht i measc na marbh?

13 An bhfoilseofar d' éachtaí sa dorchacht; agus d' fhíréantacht i dtír na díchuimhne?

14 Is ort a bhím ag éamh, a Thiarna, is chugat a thagann m' urnaí ar maidin.

15 Cad chuige duit m' anam a ruaigeadh? cad fáth a bhfolaíonn tú d' aghaidh orm?

16 Tá mé i m' ainniseoir, i riocht bháis ó m' óige; scanraigh mé romhat gur traochadh mo neart.

17 Tháinig do dhíbheirg orm anuas, agus rinne do sceimhle mo scriosadh.

18 Bíonn siad i mo thimpeall de shíor amhail tuile; tagann siad uile i mo thimpeall in éineacht.

19 Sciob tú uaim mo chara agus mo chomharsa; is í an dorchacht mo chompánachsa feasta.
