2 Táim do mo shlogadh i láib an duibheagáin, gan cos i dtaca agam. 3 Chuaigh mé thar foras i ndoimhne na mara; táim do mo bhá ag na tonnta.

4 D' éirigh mé cortha de bheith ag glaoch; tá mo scornach tirim. Tá radharc mo shúl ag meath orm agus mé ag feitheamh le mo Dhia.

5 Ní lia ribí mo chinn ná lucht m' fhuatha gan fáth. An drong lér mian mo mhilleadh sáraíonn siad mé go héagórach. An amhlaidh a thabharfaidh mé ar ais an ní nár ghoid mé?

6 Is eol duit mo bhaois, a Dhia; is léir duit mo chionta.

7 Nára cúis náire mé do d' aos muiníne, a Thiarna Dia na slua. Nára cúis anbhá mé dá mbíonn ag feitheamh leat, a Dhia Iosrael.

8 Ar do shonsa a d' fhulaing mé aithis agus bhí luisne na náire i mo ghnúis.

9 Is strainséir mé ag mo bhráithre féin; is coigríoch mé ag clann mo mháthar.

10 Tá mé ar lasadh le dúthracht do do theach; is orm a thit aithisí lucht do cháinte.

11 Nuair a chiap mé m' anam le troscadh chaith siad achasán liom dá chionn.

12 Agus an uair a chuir mé sacéadach orm is amhlaidh a bhí mé i mo cheap magaidh acu.

13 Bíonn na dailtíní sráide ag tromaíocht orm, agus is ábhar amhrán mé ag lucht ólacháin.

14 Chugatsa a chuirim m' urnaí, a Thiarna, ar uair na faille, a Dhia. Éist liom de réir do mhórthrócaire agus do chúnaimh gan teip.

15 Tóg as an láib mé d' eagla mo bháite; saor mé ó m' eascairde. Saor mé ó dhuibheagán na mara
15
16 sula n-éirí na tonnta orm. Nár shloga an fharraige siar mé; nár dhúna an poll orm.

17 Freagair mé as ucht do bhuanghrá, a Thiarna, iompaigh chugam de réir do mhórthrócaire.

18 Ná folaigh do ghnúis ar do ghiolla; freagair mé go luath mar go bhfuilim faoi bhuairt.

19 Tar i ngar do m' anam agus fuascail mé; saor mé mar gheall ar mo naimhde.

20 Is eol duit m' aithis is mo náire, tá m' eascairde go léir i do láthair.

21 Is briste mo chroí de chionn aithise ionas gur fágadh mé go faonlag fann. Bhí mé ag súil le trua ach ní bhfuair mé é; le lucht fortachta, ach ní raibh siad le fáil.

22 Thugadar domlas le hithe dom agus fínéagra le hol dom i mo thart.

23 Go raibh a mbord ina dhol chun a gceaptha agus a bhfleánna ina ngaiste dá gcairde.

24 Go ndalltar a súile ionas nach bhfeice siad; go raibh crith cos is lámh orthu go brách.

25 Go lige tú do racht amach orthu. Go mbeire orthu teas do dhíbheirge.

26 Go bhfágtar a gcampa ina uaigneas; go bhfágtar a n-áitribh gan neach iontu.

27 Óir chuir siad tóir ar an té a bhuail tú, agus chuir créacht leis na créachtaí a thug tú dó.

28 Cuir urchóid i gcionn a n-urchóide, agus nár thaga siad choíche chun d' fhíréantachta.

29 Scriostar as leabhar na mbeo iad agus ná scríobhtar a n-ainmneacha i measc na bhfíréan!

30 Maidir liomsa, cé gur daibhir dobrónach mé, déanfaidh do chúnamh mé a thógáil, a Dhia.

31 Molfaidh mé ainm Dé le hamhrán agus mórfaidh mé é le breith buíochais.

32 Is mó a thaitneoidh sin leis an Tiarna ná damhra le hadharca agus crúba.

33 Féachaigí, a lucht na huirísle, agus gairdigí; bíodh tógáil croí oraibh, a lucht chuardaithe an Tiarna.

34 Óir éisteann an Tiarna leis na bochta; ní thugann sé droim láimhe dá bhraighdeanaigh.

35 Go mola na spéartha agus an talamh é; an mhuir agus a maireann inti.

36 Óir déanfaidh Dia Síón a shaoradh agus atógfaidh sé cathracha Iúdá.

37 Déanfar cónaí iontu, beifear á sealbhú: beidh siad ina n-oidhreacht ag sliocht a sheirbhíseach, ina n-áitreabh ag lucht a ainm a ghráú.
