Dyma'r proffwyd Jeremeia yn rhoi neges i Barŵch fab Nereia oedd yn ysgrifennu'r cwbl roedd Jeremeia'n ei ddweud mewn sgrôl. (Roedd hyn yn ystod y bedwaredd flwyddyn pan oedd Jehoiacim fab Joseia yn frenin ar Jwda):

[2-3] “Barŵch, rwyt ti'n dweud, ‘Mae hi ar ben arna i! Mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi tristwch ar ben y poen oedd yna'n barod! Dw i wedi blino tuchan. Alla i ddim gorffwys.’ Wel, dyma mae'r ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, yn ei ddweud wrthot ti:

‘Dw i'n mynd i fwrw i lawr beth dw i wedi ei adeiladu, a thynnu o'r gwraidd beth dw i wedi ei blannu. Bydda i'n gwneud hyn drwy'r byd i gyd.

Ddylet ti ddim disgwyl pethau mawr i ti dy hun. Dw i'n dod â dinistr ar y ddynoliaeth gyfan. Ond bydda i'n dy gadw di'n fyw ble bynnag ei di.’ —yr ARGLWYDD sy'n dweud hyn.”
