Louvem o Senhor, proclamem a sua grandeza; divulguem entre os povos aquilo que ele fez.

Cantem hinos em sua honra; falem das suas maravilhas!
3
Sintam-se orgulhosos dele, que é o Deus santo. Alegrem-se todos os que buscam o Senhor!
4
Recorram ao Senhor e ao seu poder; procurem o Senhor continuamente.
5
Lembrem-se das suas obras, grandes e maravilhosas e das sentenças que pronunciou,
6
já que são descendentes de Abraão, seu servo, e de Jacob, seu escolhido,
7
O Senhor é o nosso Deus e governa sobre toda a terra!
8
Ele lembra-se sempre da aliança que fez, da promessa que jurou manter por mil gerações,
9
da aliança que fez com Abraão, do juramento que fez a Isaac.
10
Ele a confirmou como lei para Jacob, como aliança eterna para Israel,
11
quando disse: «Vou dar-te a terra de Canaã, que é a herança que te cabe.»
12
Quando ainda eram muito poucos e estrangeiros na terra de Canaã;
13
quando andavam de nação em nação e passavam de um reino para outro povo,
14
Deus não permitiu que alguém os maltratasse. Por causa deles repreendeu reis, deste modo:
15
«Não toquem nos meus ungidos nem maltratem os meus profetas.»
16
Fez cair a fome sobre a terra e destruiu todas as searas de trigo.
17
Mas ele tinha enviado um homem antes deles: José, que foi vendido como escravo,
18
a quem puseram correntes nos pés e uma argola de ferro em volta do pescoço,
19
até que se cumpriu o que José tinha anunciado e a palavra do Senhor provou que ele dizia a verdade.
20
O rei deu ordem para que o soltassem; o soberano dos povos mandou-o pôr em liberdade;
21
nomeou-o mordomo da sua casa e administrador de todos os seus bens,
22
com poderes para instruir os oficiais do rei e para ensinar a sabedoria aos conselheiros.
23
Jacob foi então para o reino do Egito e lá viveu como estrangeiro.
24
Deus multiplicou grandemente o seu povo e tornou-o mais forte que os seus inimigos.
25
Levou os egípcios a odiar o seu povo e a tratar enganosamente os seus servos.
26
Deus enviou então o seu servo Moisés, e Aarão, a quem tinha escolhido.
27
Realizou entre eles os prodígios prometidos e fez milagres na terra do Egito.
28
Mandou uma escuridão que cobriu os egípcios, mas eles não fizeram caso do aviso.
29
Converteu em sangue as águas dos rios, matando assim todos os peixes;
30
encheu de rãs o país, que chegaram ao interior dos palácios do rei.
31
Deus ordenou e apareceram nuvens de insetos e mosquitos em toda a terra do Egito.
32
Em vez de chuva enviou granizo e chamas de fogo sobre todo o país.
33
Destruiu as suas vinhas e figueiras destroçou as árvores dos seus campos.
34
Deus ordenou e apareceram gafanhotos; eram tantos que não se podiam contar.
35
Devoraram toda a verdura dos campos e os frutos que a terra produziu.
36
Feriu de morte todos os primogénitos do Egito, as primícias de todas as suas famílias.
37
Deus fez sair o seu povo, com prata e ouro e não houve um único doente nas suas tribos.
38
Os egípcios ficaram contentes ao vê-los partir, pois andavam completamente aterrados com eles.
39
Deus estendeu uma nuvem para os proteger e com fogo iluminava-os de noite
40
Pediram-lhe comida e deu-lhes codornizes; e saciou-os com pão do céu.
41
Fendeu o rochedo e brotou água, que correu pelos areais como um rio.
42
Deus lembrou-se da promessa sagrada, que tinha feito ao seu servo Abraão
43
e fez sair o seu povo em alegria e os seus escolhidos com gritos de júbilo.
44
Deu-lhes as terras que eram de outros povos e eles recolheram a riqueza de outras nações,
45
na condição de cumprirem os seus preceitos e respeitarem as suas leis. Aleluia!
