Conheces todos os meus movimentos; à distância, sabes os meus pensamentos.

Vês-me quando trabalho e quando descanso; conheces todas as minhas ações.

Mesmo antes de eu falar, já tu sabes o que vou dizer.

Tu estás à minha volta por todo o lado; colocas sobre mim a tua mão protetora.

O teu conhecimento é para mim demasiado profundo; está para além da minha compreensão.

Onde poderia eu ir, para escapar a ti? Para onde poderia eu fugir da tua presença?
8
Se subisse ao céu, lá estarias; se descesse ao mundo dos mortos, lá estarias também.

Se eu voasse para além do oriente ou fosse habitar nos lugares mais distantes do ocidente,

também lá a tua mão desceria sobre mim, lá estarias para me segurar!

Se eu pedisse à escuridão para me esconder ou à luz para se transformar em noite à minha volta,
12
a escuridão não me ocultaria de ti e a noite seria para ti tão brilhante como o dia. Para ti a escuridão e a luz são a mesma coisa!

Foste tu que formaste todo o meu ser; formaste-me no ventre de minha mãe.
14
Louvo-te, ó Altíssimo, e fico maravilhado com os prodígios maravilhosos que são as tuas obras. Conheces intimamente o meu ser.
15
Quando os meus ossos estavam a ser formados, sem que ninguém o pudesse ver; quando eu me desenvolvia em segredo, nada disso te escapava.
16
Tu viste-me antes de eu estar formado. Tudo isso estava escrito no teu livro; tinhas assinalado todos os dias da minha vida, antes de qualquer deles existir.
17
Mas para mim, que preciosos são os teus pensamentos, ó Deus! Que misterioso é o seu conteúdo.
18
Se eu quisesse contar, seriam mais do que a areia; e se pudesse chegar ao fim, ainda estaria contigo.
19
Ó Deus, tira a vida aos que fazem o mal, afasta de mim os assassinos.
20
Eles falam maldosamente contra ti; os teus inimigos dizem mal de ti.
21
Ó Senhor, como eu odeio aqueles que te odeiam! Como eu desprezo os que se voltam contra ti!
22
Odeio-os com toda a minha alma! Considero-os meus inimigos!
23
Examina-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração; põe-me à prova e conhece os meus pensamentos.
24
Vê se eu sigo pelo caminho do mal e guia-me pelo caminho eterno.
