Salmo da coleção de Assaf. O Senhor, Deus todo-poderoso falou; chamou os habitantes da terra do nascente ao poente.

Deus resplandece desde Sião, a cidade perfeita em beleza.
3
O nosso Deus virá e não ficará calado; à sua frente vem um fogo abrasador, ao seu redor uma forte tempestade.
4
Deus, lá do alto, chama céu e terra, como testemunhas, porque vai fazer justiça ao seu povo.
5
«Reúnam todos os que me são fiéis, os que fizeram comigo uma aliança e me ofereceram sacrifícios.»
6
Até os céus anunciarão que o Senhor é justo, porque Deus é quem julga.
7
«Escuta, povo meu! Quero falar contigo, para te pedir contas, ó Israel! Eu sou Deus, o teu Deus!
8
Não te repreendo por causa dos sacrifícios, das ofertas de animais que sempre me tens feito.
9
Não te peço nenhum dos teus touros nem os cabritos que tens nos currais,
10
pois todos os animais dos bosques me pertencem, bem como os que se encontram nos altos montes;
11
pois conheço bem as aves das montanhas e os répteis do campo estão à minha disposição.
12
Se eu tivesse fome não precisava de te o dizer, pois o mundo e tudo o que ele contém pertencem-me.
13
Porventura como eu carne de touros ou bebo sangue de cabritos?
14
A tua melhor oferta a Deus é agradeceres-lhe e cumprires as promessas que fizeste ao Altíssimo!
15
Chama por mim, quando estiveres em aflição; eu te livrarei e tu me honrarás.»
16
Mas ao infiel declara Deus: «De que te serve recitares as minhas leis e falares sempre da minha aliança,
17
se não te agrada que eu te corrija nem dás importância às minhas palavras?
18
Tornas-te cúmplice dos ladrões que vês e fazes sociedade com adúlteros!
19
Estás sempre pronto a dizer mal e não hesitas em mentir.
20
Sentas-te a falar contra o teu irmão; difamas o filho da tua própria mãe!
21
Tens feito tudo isto e eu fiquei calado; pensavas que eu era igual a ti. Mas vou chamar-te a julgamento e pedir-te contas do que fizeste.
22
Entendam bem isto os que se esquecem de Deus; não aconteça que eu vos despedace sem que ninguém vos possa livrar.
23
Aquele que me oferece ações de graças hei de homenageá-lo e àquele que andar no meu caminho hei de fazê-lo experimentar a salvação.»
