Aquele que habita sob a proteção do Altíssimo e mora à sombra do Omnipotente,
2
pode exclamar: «Ó Senhor, tu és o meu refúgio, o meu castelo, o meu Deus, em quem confio!»

Na verdade, ele há de livrar-te de armadilhas ocultas e proteger-te contra venenos mortais.
4
Ele te cobrirá com as suas asas e ficarás seguro sob os seus cuidados; com o seu poder te protegerá e defenderá!
5
Não tenhas medo dos perigos da noite, nem das setas lançadas de dia,
6
nem da peste que alastra nas trevas, nem dos males que matam em pleno dia;
7
mil cairão mortos à tua esquerda e dez mil à tua direita, mas tu não serás atingido.
8
Basta que abras os olhos, para veres como os maus são punidos.
9
Porque tu fizeste do Senhor o refúgio; do Altíssimo a tua proteção.
10
Por isso, nenhum mal te acontecerá, nenhuma doença chegará à tua casa,
11
porque Deus há de enviar-te os seus anjos, para que te guardem em todos os teus caminhos.
12
Eles segurar-te-ão com as suas mãos, para que não tropeces em pedra nenhuma.
13
Poderás caminhar por cima de serpentes e víboras e calcar aos pés leões e dragões.
14
Deus diz: «hei de livrar aqueles que me amam, hei de protegê-los, porque reconhecem o meu nome.
15
Quando me invocarem, hei de responder-lhes, quando estiverem aflitos, estarei com eles; hei de livrá-los e enchê-los de honras.
16
Hei de recompensá-los com uma vida longa e ficarão a conhecer a minha salvação.»
