Cântico de peregrinação. Lembra-te, Senhor, de David e de tudo o que ele sofreu!

Lembra-te do que ele prometeu, da promessa que fez ao Deus poderoso de Jacob:
3
«Não entrarei na casa em que moro, nem me deitarei na cama em que durmo;
4
não fecharei os meus olhos nem dormirei um instante,
5
enquanto não encontrar uma casa para o Senhor, uma morada para o Deus poderoso de Jacob.»

Ouvimos dizer que a arca da aliança estava em Efrata, mas fomos encontrá-la nos campos de Jaar.
7
Entremos no santuário do Senhor! Ajoelhemo-nos diante do seu trono!
8
Vem, Senhor, para a tua morada, com a arca da aliança, símbolo do teu poder.
9
Que os teus sacerdotes se revistam de justiça; que os teus fiéis gritem de alegria!
10
Por amor de David, teu servo, não voltes as costas ao rei que escolheste.
11
Tu fizeste uma promessa a David, uma promessa a que não faltarás: «Farei rei um dos teus filhos e ele reinará depois de ti.
12
Se os teus filhos cumprirem a minha aliança e os preceitos que lhes hei de ensinar, também os filhos deles, para sempre, te sucederão como reis.»
13
Foi assim que o Senhor escolheu o monte Sião, desejando fazer nele a sua morada:
14
«Esta será a minha morada para sempre; aqui desejo habitar.
15
Vou abençoar os seus celeiros com abundância; matarei a fome a todos os seus pobres.
16
Vestirei de gala os seus sacerdotes e os seus fiéis gritarão de alegria.
17
Ali farei surgir um descendente de David, ali farei brilhar a luz do rei que escolhi.
18
Cobrirei de vergonha os seus inimigos, mas ele terá um reinado próspero e esplendoroso.»
