Seigneur, délivre-moi des méchants, préserve-moi des gens violents!

Ils ne pensent qu'à faire le mal, chaque jour, ils préparent des guerres.

Comme des serpents, ils aiguisent leur langue, ils ont sous les lèvres un venin de vipère.

Garde-moi de tomber aux mains des méchants; Seigneur, préserve-moi des gens violents, qui ne pensent qu'à me faire trébucher.

Des arrogants m'ont préparé un piège; pour me prendre, ils ont tendu des cordes et des filets et placé leurs embûches au bord du sentier.

Mais je dis au Seigneur: « Tu es mon Dieu! Seigneur, sois attentif quand je te supplie.
8
Seigneur Dieu, toi tu es la force qui me sauve, tu protèges ma tête au moment du combat.

Ne donne pas à ces méchants ce qu'ils désirent, Seigneur, ne laisse pas leurs projets réussir, car ils feraient les fiers. » Ceux qui m'encerclent se montrent pleins d'audace; ils m'ont souhaité du malheur: que ce malheur les atteigne eux-mêmes!

Que des charbons enflammés leur tombent dessus; que Dieu les fasse dégringoler dans le feu, dans un gouffre dont ils ne remonteront pas!
12
Que celui qui recourt à la calomnie ne subsiste pas dans le pays; que le malheur poursuive sans répit la personne qui use de violence!
13
Tu rends justice aux pauvres, Seigneur, je le sais, tu fais droit aux malheureux.
14
Oui, les justes te loueront, ceux qui mènent une vie droite resteront en ta présence.
