De Salomon. Dieu, accorde au roi de prononcer les mêmes jugements que toi; donne à ce fils de roi ton sens de la justice.

Qu'il soit loyal et fidèle au droit en jugeant les plus pauvres, en jugeant ton peuple.

Que les montagnes leur apportent la paix, et les collines la justice.
4
Que le roi fasse droit aux pauvres du peuple, qu'il soit le sauveur des malheureux, et qu'il écrase leur oppresseur!
5
Qu'il vive tant que le soleil brillera, aussi longtemps que la lune éclairera, de génération en génération.
6
Qu'il soit comme la pluie qui tombe sur les prés, comme l'averse qui arrose la terre!
7
Sous son règne, que le bon droit s'épanouisse, qu'il y ait abondance de biens tant que la lune existera!
8
Qu'il soit le maître d'une mer à l'autre et de l'Euphrate jusqu'au bout du monde!
9
Les habitants du désert plieront le genou devant lui, ses ennemis mordront la poussière.
10
Les rois de Tarsis et des îles lointaines lui enverront des cadeaux: les rois de Saba et de Séba lui livreront leur contribution.
11
Tous les rois se prosterneront devant lui, tous les peuples lui seront soumis.
12
Il délivrera le malheureux qui appelle à l'aide et le pauvre qui n'a personne pour le secourir.
13
Il aura souci du faible et du malheureux, il leur sauvera la vie.
14
Il les libérera de l'oppression et de la violence, car pour lui, leur vie est précieuse.
15
Vive le roi! On lui donnera en cadeau l'or de Saba, on priera pour lui en tout temps; on demandera tous les jours à Dieu de le bénir!
16
Que le pays produise quantité de blé, que ses moissons ondulent sur les hauteurs, qu'elles soient florissantes comme les montagnes du Liban, qu'elles s'épanouissent, depuis la ville, comme l'herbe des champs!
17
Que la renommée du roi soit éternelle, qu'elle se prolonge autant que le soleil! Que les êtres humains prononcent son nom quand ils se béniront l'un l'autre, et que tous les peuples déclarent le roi bienheureux!
18
Béni soit le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, le seul qui fasse des prodiges.
19
Pour toujours, béni soit le Dieu de gloire! Que la terre soit remplie de sa présence glorieuse! Amen, oui, qu'il en soit ainsi!
