('n Gebed van die ellendige as hy oorweldig is en sy klagte voor die aangesig van die HERE uitstort.) Hoor my gebed, HERE, en laat my hulpgeroep tot U kom.
2
Verberg u aangesig nie vir my op die dag as ek in benoudheid is nie; neig u oor tot my; op die dag as ek roep, antwoord my gou.
3
Want my dae is verteer soos rook, en my gebeente brand soos 'n vuurherd.
4
My hart is geslaan en verdor soos gras; sodat ek vergeet om my brood te eet.
5
Vanweë die stem van my kreun kleef my gebeente aan my vel.
6
Ek is soos 'n pelikaan van die woestyn, ek is soos 'n uil van die woestyn.
7
Ek waak en is soos 'n mossie alleen op die dak.
8
My vyande smaad my die hele dag; en die wat teen my kwaad is, word teen my gesweer.
9
Want ek het as geëet soos brood en my drank gemeng met geween,
10
Vanweë u grimmigheid en u toorn, want U het my opgehef en my neergewerp.
11
My dae is soos 'n skaduwee wat sak; en ek is verdor soos gras.
12
Maar U, HERE, sal vir ewig bestaan; en u gedagtenis van geslag tot geslag.
13
Jy sal opstaan en jou oor Sion ontferm, want die tyd om haar te behaag, ja, die vasgestelde tyd, het aangebreek.
14
Want u dienaars het 'n welbehae in haar klippe en behaag die stof daarvan.
15
Daarom sal die nasies die Naam van die HERE vrees, en al die konings van die aarde u heerlikheid.
16
Wanneer die HERE Sion opbou, sal Hy in sy heerlikheid verskyn.
17
Hy sal die gebed van die behoeftiges ag en hulle gebed nie verag nie.
18
Dit sal geskrywe word vir die volgende geslag: en die volk wat geskape sal word, sal die HERE loof.
19
Want Hy het van die hoogte van sy heiligdom neergekyk; uit die hemel het die HERE die aarde aanskou;
20
Om die gekerm van die gevangene te hoor; om dié wat ter dood aangestel is, te los;
21
om die Naam van die HERE in Sion te verkondig en sy lof in Jerusalem;
22
Wanneer die volke en die koninkryke bymekaarkom om die HERE te dien.
23
Hy het my krag op die pad verswak; hy het my dae verkort.
24
Ek het gesê: My God, neem my nie weg in die middel van my dae nie; U jare is van geslag tot geslag.
25
Van ouds het U die aarde gegrondves, en die hemele is die werk van U hande.
26
Hulle sal vergaan, maar jy sal standhou; ja, hulle sal almal soos 'n kleed oud word; soos 'n kleed moet jy hulle verander, en hulle sal verander word.
27
Maar jy is dieselfde, en jou jare sal geen einde hê nie.
28
Die kinders van U dienaars sal bly, en hulle nageslag sal voor U vasstaan.
