(Vir die musiekleier op Gittit, 'n Psalm van Asaf.) Sing tot eer van God, ons sterkte, juig tot eer van die God van Jakob.
2
Neem 'n psalm en bring die tamboeryn, die lieflike siter met die harp hierheen.
3
Blaas die basuin op die nuwemaan, op die vasgestelde tyd, op ons plegtige feesdag.
4
Want dit was 'n insetting vir Israel en 'n wet van die God van Jakob.
5
Dit het hy in Josef as 'n getuienis bepaal toe hy deur Egipteland getrek het, waar ek 'n taal gehoor het wat ek nie verstaan het nie.
6
Ek het sy skouer van die las verwyder: sy hande is uit die potte gered.
7
Jy het in benoudheid geroep, en Ek het jou gered; Ek het jou geantwoord in die skuilplek van die donder: Ek het jou beproef by die waters van Meriba. Sela.
8
Luister, o my volk, en Ek sal vir jou getuig: o Israel, as jy na My luister;
9
Daar sal geen vreemde god in jou wees nie; en jy mag geen vreemde god aanbid nie.
10
Ek is die HERE jou God wat jou uit Egipteland uitgelei het; maak jou mond wyd oop, en Ek sal dit vul.
11
Maar my volk wou nie na my stem luister nie; en Israel wou nie een van my nie.
12
Daarom het Ek hulle oorgegee aan die begeerlikheid van hul eie hart, en hulle het in hul eie planne gewandel.
13
Ag, as my volk na my geluister het, en Israel in my weë gewandel het!
14
Ek sou gou hulle vyande moes onderwerp en my hand teen hulle teëstanders gedraai het.
15
Die haters van die HERE moes hulle aan Hom onderwerp het, maar hulle tyd moes vir ewig bestaan.
16
Hy moes hulle ook gevoed het met die beste van die koring, en met heuning uit die rots sou Ek jou versadig het.
