(Aan die musiekleier, 'n Psalm van Dawid.) Verlos my, HERE, van die bose man; bewaar my van die geweldenaar;
2
wat onheil in hulle hart voorstel; gedurigdeur word hulle vir oorlog versamel.
3
Hulle het hul tonge skerp gemaak soos 'n slang; adders se gif is onder hul lippe. Sela.
4
Bewaar my, o HERE, uit die hande van die goddelose; bewaar my van die geweldenaar; wat voorgeneem het om my wandel omver te werp.
5
Die hoogmoediges het vir my 'n strik en toue weggesteek; hulle het 'n net uitgesprei langs die pad; hulle het vir my jenewer gesit. Sela.
6
Ek het aan die HERE gesê: U is my God; hoor die stem van my smekinge, HERE!
7
O HERE HERE, sterkte van my heil, U het my hoof bedek in die dag van oorlog.
8
Gee nie, o HERE, die begeertes van die goddelose nie; verder nie sy goddelose plan nie; dat hulle hulleself nie verhef nie. Sela.
9
Wat die hoof betref van die wat my omring, laat die onheil van hulle lippe hulle bedek.
10
Laat gloeiende kole op hulle val; laat hulle in die vuur gegooi word; in diep kuile, dat hulle nie weer opstaan nie.
11
Laat geen kwaadspreker op die aarde gevestig word nie: onheil sal die geweldenaar jag om hom te vernietig.
12
Ek weet dat die HERE die saak van die ellendiges en die reg van die armes sal handhaaf.
13
Waarlik, die regverdiges sal U Naam loof; die opregtes sal voor U aangesig woon.
