('n Gebed van Moses, die man van God.) HERE, U was ons woonplek van geslag tot geslag.
2
Voordat die berge voortgebring is, of U die aarde en die wêreld gevorm het, van ewigheid tot ewigheid, is U God.
3
U bring die mens tot vernietiging; en sê: Keer terug, mensekinders!
4
Want duisend jaar is in u oë net soos gister as dit verby is, en soos 'n nagwaak.
5
U voer hulle weg soos 'n vloed; hulle is soos 'n slaap; in die môre is hulle soos gras wat opgroei.
6
In die môre bloei dit en groei dit op; in die aand word dit afgekap en verdor.
7
Want ons is verteer deur U toorn, en deur U toorn is ons verskrik.
8
U het ons ongeregtighede voor U gestel, ons verborge sondes in die lig van U aangesig.
9
Want al ons dae is verby in u toorn; ons spandeer ons jare soos 'n verhaal wat vertel word.
10
Die dae van ons jare is tien en sestig jaar; en as hulle vanweë krag tagtig jaar is, is hulle krag tog arbeid en droefheid; want dit word gou afgesny, en ons vlieg weg.
11
Wie ken die krag van U toorn? ook volgens jou vrees, so is jou toorn.
12
Leer ons dus om ons dae te tel, sodat ons ons harte op wysheid kan wend.
13
Keer terug, o HERE, hoe lank? en laat dit jou berou oor U dienaars.
14
O, maak ons vroeg versadig met U goedertierenheid; dat ons kan jubel en bly wees al ons dae.
15
Maak ons bly volgens die dae waarin U ons verdruk het en die jare waarin ons onheil gesien het.
16
Laat U werk aan U dienaars verskyn en U eer aan hulle kinders.
17
En laat die skoonheid van die HERE onse God oor ons wees, en bevestig die werk van ons hande op ons; ja, die werk van ons hande bevestig dit.
