(Aan die musiekleier, 'n Psalm van Dawid.) Ek het geduldig op die HERE gewag; en hy het na my neergebuig en my geroep gehoor.
2
Hy het my ook uit 'n afgryslike kuil, uit die modderige klei laat optrek en my voete op 'n rots gestel en my weë bevestig.
3
En Hy het 'n nuwe lied in my mond gelê, lof tot eer van onse God; baie sal dit sien en vrees en op die HERE vertrou.
4
Welgeluksalig is die man wat die HERE vertrou en die hoogmoediges nie ag nie en nie die wat afwyk tot leuens nie.
5
Baie, HERE my God, is u wonderwerke wat U gedoen het, en u gedagtes wat tot ons gerig is; dit kan nie vir U gereken word nie; genommer word.
6
Slagoffer en spysoffer het jy nie begeer nie; my ore het jy oopgemaak; brandoffer en sondoffer het jy nie geëis nie.
7
Toe sê ek: Kyk, ek kom; in die boekrol is van my geskrywe:

Ek het 'n welbehae om u wil te doen, o my God; ja, u wet is binne-in my hart.
9
Ek het geregtigheid verkondig in die groot vergadering; kyk, ek het my lippe nie teruggehou nie, o HERE, U weet dit.
10
Ek het u geregtigheid nie in my hart verberg nie; Ek het u trou en u heil bekend gemaak; u goedertierenheid en u waarheid het ek nie vir die groot vergadering verberg nie.
11
Weer u barmhartighede nie van my af nie, o HERE; laat u goedertierenheid en u trou my gedurigdeur bewaar.
12
Want ontelbare euwels het my omring: my ongeregtighede het my aangegryp, sodat ek nie kan opkyk nie; hulle is meer as die hare van my hoof; daarom begewe my hart my.
13
Wees behaag, o HERE, om my te red; o HERE, maak gou om my te help.
14
Laat hulle saam beskaamd staan en beskaamd staan wat my siel soek om dit te vernietig; laat hulle agteruit gedryf en beskaam word wat my kwaad toewens.
15
Laat hulle woes word vir die beloning van hulle skande wat vir my sê: Aha, aha!
16
Laat almal wat U soek, in U bly wees en bly wees; laat die wat u heil liefhet, gedurigdeur sê: Mag die HERE groot wees!
17
Maar ek is arm en behoeftig; tog dink die HERE aan my: U is my hulp en my redder; moenie vertoef nie, o my God.
