Árið sem yfirhershöfðinginn kom til Asdód, sendur af Sargon Assýríukonungi, réðst hann á borgina og vann hana.

Á þeim tíma talaði Drottinn fyrir munn Jesaja Amotssonar og sagði: „Farðu og leystu hærusekkinn af lendum þér og dragðu ilskóna af fótum þér.“ Hann gerði það og gekk um nakinn og berfættur.

Þá sagði Drottinn: „Eins og Jesaja, þjónn minn, hefur í þrjú ár gengið um nakinn og berfættur sem tákn um Egyptaland og Kús,

eins mun Assýríukonungur leiða á brott bandingja frá Egyptalandi og útlaga frá Kús, bæði unga og gamla, nakta og berfætta með bakhlutana bera, Egyptum til smánar.
5
Þá munu þeir skelfast og verða fyrir vonbrigðum vegna Kúss sem þeir reiddu sig á og vegna Egyptalands sem þeir stærðu sig af.
6
Á þeim degi munu þeir sem búa hér á ströndinni segja: Þannig fór von vor. Vér flýðum til þeirra í von um hjálp og björgun undan Assýríukonungi. Hvernig getum vér nú bjargast?“
