Isto diche o Señor, Deus de Israel, a ti, Baruc:

Ti dis: Ai de min! O Señor engade aflicións á miña dor; estou canso de tanto chorar, e non atopo acougo.

Respóndelle deste xeito: Así fala o Señor: O que construín, vouno destruír eu, e o que plantei, vouno arrincar, (e tamén a todo este país).

Seica ti buscas grandes cousas para ti? —Non as busques. Porque eu vou traer a desgraza sobre todas as criaturas —é o Señor quen fala—, pero a ti, coma despoxo, fareiche o don da túa propia vida, en todos os lugares a onde vaias.
